Terrorists attack dam site in Mohmand, kill three

PESHAWAR: Terrorists attacked an under-construction irrigation dam in the tribal areas, killing three workers and kidnapping at least two others, officials said on Wednesday.
Around a dozen gunmen attacked the Ghallanai Dam site in Mohmand Agency overnight. The attackers planted an improvised bomb on the road leading to the dam, which hit a vehicle carrying labourers, killing at least three people.
"At least two labourers and one contractor were killed and five others were wounded in the blast. The militants had earlier kidnapped two workers from the site," an administration official in Mohmand told AFP.
A security official confirmed the incident but put the number of those kidnapped at four. Security sources told APP that the militants detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) near the vehicle of dam's contractor when he was returning from the construction site. About 10 to 12 militants also set fire to excavators and other equipment being used in the dam construction.
Spokesman for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mohmand Umer Khalid Khurasani, in a statement from an unknown location, claimed responsibility for the attack. It is noteworthy that Taliban had on September 14 unconditionally released eight officials of the Gomal Zam Dam project, who were kidnapped two years ago.
