KARACHI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday said a terror-free and peaceful Karachi is the ultimate aim of the operation and all efforts must be directed with a focused approach to achieve this objective, a statement released by the ISPR said.

Chairing a security meeting at the Corps Headquarters here, the COAS expressed satisfaction over the pace of Karachi operation and said economic progress is directly linked to peace in the metropolis. He also appreciated the people of Karachi for their unflinching support for the security forces.

The COAS lauded Rangers, intelligence and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) for their phenomenal achievements and sacrifices in improving security environment in Karachi.

The army chief was briefed in-detail regarding ongoing operation including intelligence based operations. Karachi Corps Commander, DG ISI, DG MO, DG MI and DG Rangers were present in the meeting.

Earlier, the army chief addressed the faculty, participants and allied officers of Air War Course. He dilated on the current global issues, regional security environment, and fight against the menace of terrorism. He resolved to take the fight to its logical end and help create environment to embark the country on the road to development.

Speaking on the occasion, he lauded PAF’s role and contributions in support of army in Operation Zarb-e-Azb. Synergy achieved between air and land forces has been highly appreciable, he said.
