Terror bid foiled in Wah

WAH CANTT/ISLAMABAD: A major terror bid was foiled on Tuesday 20,January,2015 when police intercepted a suspected suicide bomber. City Police officer Basheer Tarrar told APP that a Rawalpindi bound bus coming from Peshawar was stopped on main GT Road at Wah Sardar checkpost near Wah Garden.
Police on suspicion took one of the bus passengers into custody. Upon trying to escape, the suspect was fired at by the police, in response to which he hurled a hand grenade at the police personnel. Later he blew himself up with a hand grenade. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday condemned the attack on police check post in Wah Cantt and sought an initial report of the incident.
He also announced award for police personnel for showing bravery at the time of the incident, said a press release. Nisar said that such incidents could not diminish courage of police personnel and the terrorists would never succeed in their nefarious designs. The policemen who were recognised for their courage included ASI Babar, Sub-Inspector Ashraf, Head Constable Zafar Iqbal, constables Amjad and Mukhtiar.
