Terror bid foiled in Peshawar, terrorist killed

PESHAWAR: Police claimed to have foiled a terror bid by killing a militant and seizing 105 kilogrammes of explosive material in Bara Sheikhan area on Thursday. According to police, they stopped a suspicion pushcart vendor for searching when he opened fire on them. In retaliatory firing, police shot him dead. Police said that the vendor's other accomplice hurled a hand grenade at them and managed to flee from the scene. SSP (rural) told the media that police seized at least 105 kilogrammes of explosive material from the pushcart. He said that a bomb with remote control and three hand grenades were also seized. Bomb Disposal Quad was called for defusing the explosives. The SSP said that the terrorists wanted to target Sarband Police Station in Peshawar. He said on a tip-off about presence of terrorists, the police cordoned off the area and started a search operation for avoiding any untoward incident. End.
