Terror bid foiled in Peshawar, 2 bombs defused

PESHAWAR: Two bombs were recovered from GT Road near Nishtarabad Chowk area of Peshawar, both the bombs were defused, officials said on Thursday. According to details, the police were informed about a suspicious parcel on GT Road. They rushed to the site and opened the parcel to find a bomb inside. Before long, police, moving into action, put the security cordon off GT Road and evacuated the shops. Bomb disposal squad was called in, which defused the bomb. Meantime, while scouring through the area, police recovered another bomb wrapped up in shopper bag. Both the bombs were defused through controlled blasting method. Officials said one of the bombs had 500-gram explosives and the other was three -kilogram heavy. Police searched some other potential remote-controlled bombs in the area. End.
