Target killing claims seven more lives in Karachi

KARACHI: Unabated wave of targeted killing claimed seven more lives of people in various parts of the city on Sunday.

Pasban SITE president along with his son and another activist were killed in a targeted attack at their shop near Banrars Bridge within the precincts of Pirbabad police station.

SHO Muhammad Shahid Khan said 47-year-old Yar Muhammad, son of Ameen, his son 20-year-old Shehyar and 23-year-old Bakhtiyar Rehman, son of Amee Rehman, were sitting at their shop of religious cassettes and books when three armed pillion riders emerged there, one of them remained on a bike and two barged into the shop, and opened indiscriminate fire on them.

As a result, all the three received multiple bullet wounds.

They were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment, where doctors pronounced all dead. After the killing incident, panic and fear gripped the area, as the commercial and routine activities were suspended. He further said that Yar Muhammad, father of three children, was the resident of the same area and hailed from Swat.

Pasban Pakistan, President Altaf Shakoor, condemned the killing of their party workers and demanded of the government to arrested culprits immediately.

A man affiliated with Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) was killed in Orangi Town within the limits of Iqbal Market police station.

A police official said Muhammad Zakir, 33, son of Muahmmad Jameel, was returning home when armed riders shot him dead and escaped. The body was shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities. Zakir lived in the same area and had got married a month ago.

A trader was shot over denial of extortion in Mehran Town, Korangi within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station.

According to police, Wazeer Zada, 30, son of Ali Zada, was sitting at his shop where unidentified armed men entered the shop and opened fire on him. As a result, he received multiple bullets and died on the spot.

The body was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a postmortem.

A man was killed outside his house in Sector 15A-4 within the limits of Taimuria police station. SHO Ejaz Lodhi said that unidentified men first called the victim Farhan, 31, son of Saleem. When he came out from his home, two armed riders, both wearing helmets, opened targeted fire on him. As a result, Farhan received multiple bullet injuries and died instantly.

The body was brought to ASH for a postmortem. The SHO said Farhan had got married four month ago and was an exporter.

He said initial investigation revealed that personal dispute might be the motive behind the killing, while further investigation was underway.

A man was killed over a land dispute in Soomar Goth within the jurisdiction of Memon Goth police station.

According to police, 45-year-old Jawed, son of Sachal, was sitting near his house when armed men shot him dead and escaped. The body was shifted to JPMC. Police said Jawed belonged to interior Sindh and had a dispute over a piece of land in the area.
