Tanker owners warn strike against POL price hike
03 September, 2012
KARACHI: All Pakistan Oil Tanker Owners Association (APOTOA) has called for a countrywide wheel-jam strike from September 10 against the recent hike in petroleum products. APOTOA spokesperson Israr Ahmed Shinwari condemned the government decision to raise the petroleum products in the country and demanded of it to revert the decision. He informed that prices of petroleum products are raised every second week. "The government is forcing us to stop our vehicles and convert them into scrape as we have no second option," he said. He lamented that the government had put additional burden on countrymen by increasing the petroleum products as inflation jumped up due to the decision. He said that the government should withdraw its decision, otherwise they would increase freight charges for oil transporting vehicles. He threatens to go on the countrywide wheel-jam strike from September 10, if increase in the prices of petroleum products is not reverted. End.
