Sorry, the tall claiming politicians that you would no longer be able to claim to represent 18 crore awaam as according to the ECP's voters' list the total number of the voters will be 85,421,961 which is only 47.456 per cent, less than half of the total population! The average turn out at the polls will be 40 to 50 per cent which will make the actual voters to be around 34 to 42 millions, say an average of 38 million. Finally, the winning party usually bags not more than a maximum of 30 per cent of the polled votes, that is 11 per cent of total population. So, listen my dear mandate walas 11 per cent of 180 million people is 19.8 million only, that is; One Crore Ninety Eight Lacs only and NOT 18 crore awaam. So next when open your mouth to make the tall claim to represent atharah crore awaam, please think twice before you do it. Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
