KABUL: The Taliban shadow governor for Doshi district in Baghlan province has been killed as a result of a special operation, the Ministry of Interior said Thursday. An interior ministry press release available with the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) stated the Taliban shadow governor for Doshi district identified as Maulvi Shamsur Rehman was killed as a result of a special operation and a subsequent airstrike by the Afghan National Police in Karu area of the district early today. The Taliban, however, rejected the claim as false and their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told the AIP none of their leader or district governor with the name of Maulvi Shamsur Rehman had been killed in Baghlan. In a separate incident, he said their fighters attacked Afghan security forces in Piazqol area in Baghlan province. He claimed four Afghan soldiers were killed and several more injured in the gunfight. The Taliban did not suffer casualties in the attack, he added. End.
