PESHAWAR: A Taliban group that claimed it is holding Ali Haider Gilani, the kidnapped son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, said on Tuesday that the junior Gilani is "well" and the group would release his video after Eid.
"The son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani is with us and doing well," 'Al-Mansoren Brigade' spokesman Abu Yazeed Mansur told a journalist on phone in Hangu on Tuesday.
Ali Haider Gilani was taken away in one of the most brazen attacks on a political rally which the sons of Yousaf Raza Gilani were to address in their hometown Multan on May 9 – two days before the May 11 general election. The phone call was apparently made from Afghanistan as the number it was made from had the country's code.
