Tahirul Qadri asked to surrender dual nationality

08 January, 2013

LAHORE: Syed Feroze Shah Gilani, a lawyer, has sent a legal notice to Dr Tahirul Qadri asking him to surrender his Canadian nationality and fight for the cause of the poor and struggling people of Pakistan.

He said that Dr Qadri, being a dual national, cannot be loyal to the two countries Pakistan and Canada at the same time as the "loyalty is not divisible".

Gilani said that loyalty to state and obedience to the constitution is the first duty of every citizen of Pakistan which could not be expected from a person having dual nationality.

He stated that mere rhetoric does not solve the problems "unless somebody prepares the roadmap and mode of reaching the final destination". He asked Dr Qadri to reconsider his announcement to hold a long march to "bring about revolution" in the country.

End.
