Suddle close friend of Arsalan Iftikhar: Zahid Bukhari

11 September, 2012

ISLAMABAD: Zahid Bukhari, counsel for Malik Riaz, on Monday said the Supreme Court had changed the constitutional history of the country by forming the one-man commission of Shoaib Suddle to probe the Arsalan Iftikhar case.

Talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court, he stated that the court had changed its own stance, on just a review petition, by forming a new commission.

"We don't have any objection over Shoaib Suddle; instead we have objection over the procedure. We don't want to criticise Suddle; but we want justice from the Supreme Court, because Suddle has close relations with Dr Arsalan Iftikhar and we have dozens of objections but the court has rejected our objections," Bukhari said. He stated that they wanted to opt for review and hoped for relief from the Supreme Court as that had been granted to Dr Arsalan Iftikhar.

To a query, he said he was hopeful that a two-member bench would do justice with them. Bukhari stated that they would file a review petition like that filed by Arsalan Iftikhar. In Arsalan Iftikhar case, the Supreme Court had earlier barred the National Accountability Bureau from investigation and formed the one-member commission. The court had asked NAB to hand over the entire record of the case to the commission.

End.
