Sky-high prices... By Ayesha

Eidul Azha is just around the corner and the prices of sacrificial animals are touching the sky. A sharp increase in the trade of animals from different areas to the cattle market has been witnessed but the prices are 100 times higher as compared to last year. This sharp increase in price worries the people. A majority of the people belonging to the middle class who do not get enough salary are in doubt about whether they should sacrifice animals this Eid or not. Due to this reason, people now prefer to engage in 'joint sacrifices'.
Traders say that the main reason for the skyrocketing prices of animals is the high price of petrol and the large tax imposed on the administration of the cattle market. On the other hand, the buyers say that traders are taking advantage of the season and are looting the people with both of their hands. However, most of the people are still hopeful that the prices will go down in the upcoming week and that they will be able to purchase them. Let us watch and see what happens. It seems very difficult for the people to celebrate this sacrificial rite.
