Six ANA troops, one cop killed in separate attacks

KABUL/ASADABAD: Six soldiers of Afghan National Army (ANA) were killed and two more wounded after separate attacks in Kandahar, Farah and Herat province, defence ministry said Tuesday .

The ANA troops were killed and wounded Ghorak district of Kandahar, Bala Balok district of Farah and Herat provinces, the defence ministry said in a statement.

It said six anti-government gunmen were detained in Kandahar and Laghman province. The defence ministry did not give time and date of the attacks.

Meanwhile, four alleged armed opponents were killed in airstrikes of the ISAF in Sarkani and Ghaziabad districts of Kunar province, officials said Tuesday.

The foreign forces killed two local commanders of the armed opponents in an airstrike in Ghaziabad district yesterday, the Kunar police spokesman Sherwali Samim told the AIP.

He said two armed opponents, including a commander, were killed in another blitz in Yakh Kamar area of Sarkani district yesterday.

ISAF also confirmed killing of two armed opponents in Ghaziabad and as many in Sarkani district.

However, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told the AIP that those killed in Kunar were Afghan civilians.

Local cop killed, two injured: KANDAHAR: (AIP): A local policeman was killed and two more were injured in a roadside bombing in Arghandab district of Kandahar province yesterday, an official said Tuesday.

A vehicle of the Afghan Local Police struck an IED in Joi Lahore area of Arghandab, the Kandahar governor’s spokesman Javed Faisal told the AIP, leaving three cops injured. They were taken to the hospital where one of them succumbed to the fatal injuries, he added.

Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing and their spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi told the AIP six Afghan Local Police personnel, including their two commanders Hassan and Shah Mehmood were killed in the blast.

However, the governor’s spokesman rejected the Taliban claims as false.
