Sheikh Rasheed escapes unhurt in firing attack

ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and head of the Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid lodged a complaint with the Aabpara police station, saying that a gunshot was fired at his vehicle (VS-042) on the Islamabad Highway near the Shakarparian signal when he was heading towards Rawalpindi after participating in a TV talk show at about 10pm on Thursday, police sources said.
Sheikh Rashid rushed to the Aabpara police station after the incident and registered his complaint saying that as he reached near the signal, he heard the sound of a gunshot which hit his car from the back. However, he stopped his car and found a half penetrated bullet on the back of his car.
The Inspector General of reached Aabpara Police Station and viewed the case.A top police officer, when contacted by this correspondent for the police version, confirmed the report of lodging complaint with the Aabpara Police Station, saying that it seemed a stray bullet which was vertically half penetrated in the body of car. The police, however, have taken up the case and started investigation.
