ISLAMABAD, April 07 (Online): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain Syed visited Holy See Embassy in Islamabad and expressed their condolences with the Ambassador of the Holy See Arch Bishop Alessandro D' Errico on the sad demise of Pope John Paul II.

"Pope John Paul's demise is grave loss to the entire world. The Holiness was a man of peace, harmony, tolerance and sensitivity. His holiness worked hard for making world a more peaceful place and to give the deprived people their due right,".

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz recorded these remarks on his visit of the Holy See.

"We in Pakistan share your grief and pray that His Holiness soul rest in peace. Enlightened moderation and interfaith harmony is essential for peace and development. We need to embrace all humanity so as to build a better, peaceful and progressive world," he further added.

He said that the demise of Pope John Paul is a tragic loss as he (Pope John Paul) was reserved for his devotion to peace and the cause of deprived sections.

The government of Pakistan has sent a high level delegation under the leadership of Minister for Religious Affairs, Mohammad Ijaz ul Haq to attend the funeral of recognition of the respect of His Holiness and what he stood for. The flag of Pakistan will fly half-mast on the funeral day of His Holiness.

The Prime Minister recalled his visit to Davos where stress was laid on interfaith harmony and need for all faiths to open their hearts to each other.

The Prime minister said that all faiths stand for peace and brotherhood.

Meanwhile, Ch Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain Syed said that the whole world including Pakistan was grieved over the demise of Pope John Paul II. Pakistan shared this grief with Christen brothers.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that Pope John Paul II irrespective of religion expressed hi views on the issue of Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. He always promoted resolution of problems through peace, brotherhood and harmony.

Secretary General Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed said that the services of Pope John Paul II for the oppressed humanity would always be remembered. He was a friend of Islam and Muslims.

Mushahid said that he had the opportunity to meet Pope John Paul II and he found him a great human being. He said that PML had the honour to arrange a prayer meeting for the health, which was a recognition of his services.

They also wrote their messages in the book of the embassy.
