05 February, 2013
LAHORE: Paying glowing tribute to the brave Kashmir people's struggle to achieve their right of self-determination, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the people of Pakistan have always raised their voice against state oppression, torture and trampling of human rights in Indian-held Kashmir.
In his message on the occasion of Kashmir Day, the CM said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had always highlighted the Kashmir cause at every national and international forum during its government, while the stance of the party was clear on resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He said that the PML-N would continue to extend political and moral support to the Kashmiri brethrens at every level.
Shahbaz said that India's usurpation of the Held-Kashmir and depriving Kashmiris of their right of self-determination was highly condemnable.
He said that it was in the interest of Pakistan and India to resolve the Kashmir issue through mutual negotiations, because "as long as Kashmir issue is not resolved, in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people, other disputes between Pakistan and India will remain unresolved".
The CM said that PML-N President Nawaz Sharif had held purposeful negotiations on the Kashmir issue during his premiership, and a strong hope had arisen regarding solution of the problem. "Unfortunately, the democratic government was overthrown and, after imposition of dictatorship in the country, Kashmir issue was consigned to the cold storage."
Shahbaz expressed determination that if Allah gave PML-N another opportunity, his party would try to resolve the Kashmir issue after coming into power, besides taking effective and result-oriented steps to ensure the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir. "The entire Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri brethrens on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day."
