Shab-e-Barat observed with religious zeal

KARACHI: Like other parts of Muslim World, Shab-e-Barat was observed with religious zeal and fervor in the city, here on Thursday night.

Special prayers were offered, while buildings, streets and mosques were decorated with beautiful lights. The religious conventions were also held across the city.

A large number of people visited graveyards to offer Fateha for their deceased loved ones. Special arrangements were made at all the graveyards of the metropolis, including Mewa Shah graveyard. Earlier, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and relevant authorities had launched cleanliness and fumigation drives to facilitate people for visiting the graves of their dear ones.

To spread awareness about the religious glory of the night and collect blessing, religious congregations were organised at various mosques and areas. A major programme was held at Jama Masjid-e-Thanvi Jacob lines area after Esha prayers where Moulana Tanveerul Haq Thanvi delivered a sermon.

Similarly, a big congregation was held at Jama Masjid Gulzar-e-Habib at Solider Bazaar, where renowned religious scholar and speaker Allama Kokab Okarvi addressed people. Another programme was organised by Jamiat Qadria, which was addressed by Dr. Fareeduddin Qadri. A big Mehfl-e-Darood was also held at Khankha-e-Ollia at North Karachi area.

Special security arrangements were made to secure visitors at religious places and sensitive spots of the city on this occasion. All educational institutes will remain close on Friday (today) on this eve.
