Sehba challenges court order declaring Musharraf a PO

ISLAMABAD: Sehba Musharraf, wife of former president Pervez Musharraf, on Saturday challenged a court order that declared the former president a proclaimed offender.
Sehba filed a petition in this regard in Rawalpindi's Anti-Terrorist Court.
The petition states that Musharraf was declared a proclaimed offender in a faulty manner and on the basis of invalid sections and provisions.
The petition states that the court had used Section 87 against Musharraf. However, since Musharraf was residing outside Pakistan before the case began, the court should have referred to Section 93 in order to act against him, the petition says.
Subsequently, the Anti-Terrorist Court issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and adjourned the proceedings till Jan 21.
Meanwhile, a government prosecutor said on Saturday that Musharraf would be arrested in connection with the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto if he returns to the country.
There is no need for any "fresh arrest warrants" for him as a court has already issued orders for his arrest, prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali told reporters.
Hours earlier, Musharraf told a news channel that he would come back later this month to contest the next general elections.
Musharraf has been living in London and Dubai since 2008 when the government, led by Bhutto's party, forced him to resign.
