Scores killed in accidents as Eid dash begins

QILA SAIFULLAH/MULTAN/PESHAWAR/SWAT: Scores of people were killed and injured in road accidents in different part of the country.
The accidents happened in Qila Saifullah, Multan, Jamshoro, Isakhel and Swat on Sunday as people moved to their native towns to celebrate Eidul Azha. In an accident three people, a couple and their daughter, were killed on Purana Shujaabad Road, Multan, when a van and motorcycle collided.
According to details, Akhtar, a schoolteacher, was going to animal market on a motorcycle along with his wife and daughter when they were hit by a van. Resultantly, all three lost their lives. Heirs of the deceased later blocked the road and held a protest demonstration. Another accident claimed the lives of two people when a van plunged into a ravine in Chamkalai area of Swat.
Five other people sustained injuries in the accident, and were shifted to Civil Hospital Khwazakhela. Meanwhile, five passengers were injured as a trailer and a pickup van collided on Super Highway near Nooriabad area of Jamshoro. Police and rescue officials shifted the injured to a local hospital. A motorcyclist was killed and his companion injured as they were hit by a pickup in Isakhel. As many as 10 people, including two women, were killed and 40 others injured in road accidents and firing in different towns of Balochistan, on Sunday.
According to details, unidentified armed men fired indiscriminately on a man in Dhadar area of Balochistan, killing him on the spot. The local administration shifted the deceased to District Headquarter Hospital where he was identified as Ghulam Rasool. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained. The local administration handed over the body of the deceased to the heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities.
Separately, two persons sustained injuries in a road mishap in Dhader. In a similar incident, a bus turned turtle on Zhob highway, killing six people, including two women, and injuring 30.
