Save our Soil... By Col.(r) Riaz

22 January, 2014

Mr. Hashim Abro in his letter "Save our Soil" (NewsPost 21st January 2014) wonders as to "what stops our rulers, especially the ruling elite in Sindh, from launching water and agricultural extension and preservation projects in the country to save our deteriorating soil?".

Well . Mr. Abro, the answer is very simple Lack of Vision! Much to the agony, anguish and anger of our pseudo intellectuals and TV anchor lovers of democracy and our so called democratically elected rulers only a dictator the like of Ayub khan had the vision to launch projects like SCARP (Salinity Control and Reclamation Programme), Sinking of Deep Tube Wells, Vertical, Horizontal and Excessive Salinity Drainage, Saline Agriculture, Use of Soluble Solids and Chemicals (gypsum etc.) Well he (the traitor) had the vision and love for Pakistan (Shahabnama) and reclaimed millions of hectors of fully cultivable land for Pakistan.

Wish our present rulers had even an iota of his vision.
