SIC, MWM announce to form 'patriot alliance'

06 January, 2014

ISLAMABAD: The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) on Sunday announced to form 'patriot alliance'.

MWM chief Allama Nasir Abbas and SIC Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza also asked the government to differentiate between patriots and traitors, and said a security operation should be started against terrorists instead of holding dialogue with them.

They made this demand at a convention at D-Chowk.

The Sunni and Shia leaders also vowed to save the country from terrorists and announced to hold a big procession in Karachi on January 12. They also announced to stage a protest in Islamabad against federal and Punjab governments.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza criticised Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan and called him "a representative of the Taliban". He also warned the government against putting hurdles to the organisation of January 12 procession.

Allama Nasir Abbas said that Eid-e-Miladun Nabi (PBUH) would be observed across the country this year and the biggest event in this regard would be held in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He declared the Taliban enemies of Islam, country and humanity, and ruled out any possibility of dialogue with them. MWM Deputy Secretary Allama Amin Shaheedi, SIC Deputy Secretary Tariq Mehboob, All Hindu Alliance Movement Chairman Haroon Sarbadyal, Sardar Chirat Jeet Singh of Sikh community, Sheikh Salahuddin, Pir Atiqur Rehman and Sadia Raye also addressed the convention.

End.
