SHC seeks reply from Musharraf, Altaf on May 12 incident

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the parties involved in the May 12 killings' case, including former President Pervez Musharraf, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and former provincial Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.
The SHC has sought a written reply from the respondents regarding the killing of 54 people in Karachi on the day of the arrival in the city of then deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
A division bench of the SHC comprising Chief Justice Musheer Alam Khan and Justice Imam Bux Baloch heard the petition on Tuesday. The court directed the respondents to submit their reply before the court at the next date of hearing.
The court has issued notices to Musharraf, Altaf Hussain, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, former advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Interior Affairs Waseem Akhtar, former Home Secretary Ghulam Mohtram, former Inspector General of Police Sindh Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui and others. The court adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.
