SCBA sets 3yr experience for contesting bar elections

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Saturday set experience of three years as a condition for new enrolments of lawyers to contest the bar's annual election. The bar's executive body decided that lawyers were only eligible to contest SCBA annual election three years after they had acquired Supreme Court's practicing licence. The decision would be applicable from the next election, which are to be held in the last week of October. Earlier, the three years' restriction was binding on the candidates for posts of finance and additional secretaries but now it had been decided that lawyers could contest the election for any post after three years of their enrolment in the apex court.
