SC orders AG, AAG to continue follow 'missing persons case

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Monday directed Attorney General Munir A Malik and Additional Attorney General Tariq Khokhar to continue follow up the 'Missing Persons' case on behalf of the Defence Ministry.

The orders were given by a three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

The bench gave these directions to the Attorney General and Additional Attorney after hearing the letter received by Director Legal Defence Ministry Group Capt. Muhammad Irfan. In which, it was stated that AG was told to admonish Additional Attorney General Tariq Khokhar for advocating the ministry of defence case; however, the CJP insisted Tariq Khokhar to continue legal counselling.

The court expressed annoyed over the letter of written by the Director Legal Defence Ministry. The CJ remarked Tariq Khokhar is an honest and honourable law officer. He added how Group Capt. Muhammad Irfan dared to write a letter against Tariq Khokhar.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till Tuesday (today).
