SC extends bail of Musa, Shahabuddin until Oct 11
26 September, 2012
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended interim bail of Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and lawmaker Ali Musa Gilani in the ephedrine quota scandal case. A three-member bench, headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk, directed the SC office to club record of both applicants and adjourned the hearing until October 11. On September 14, the bench accepted Musa's pre-arrest bail against two surety bonds worth Rs 500,000 each. The son of former premier Yousaf Raza Gilani had moved the court against the Lahore High Court's verdict, denying him interim pre-arrest bail. His counsel had filed a contempt petition against the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for allegedly harassing, manhandling and grossly insulting his client on September 13. The court combined the hearing of the contempt petition along with the ephedrine case hearing. On the other hand, the ANF had submitted its reply terming the allegations levelled by Musa incorrect and said that he was arrested in accordance with law. End.
