River Chenab in high level flood

HEAD KHANKI/WAZIRABAD: River Chenab is in high level flood at Head Khanki. Water flow has been recorded 405000 cusecs at Head Khanki while 256000 cusecs water flow is passing through Head Qadir Abad and 232000 cusecs flood water is flowing at Head Marala.
More 12 villages are reported to have been submerged in flood water in Gujranwala and Wazirabad and several acres agriculture land has been damaged.
As per flood control center 500000 cusecs water flow is likely to pass in river Chenab. Water level is reported to have increased from 299000 cusecs to 405000 at Head Khanki. Water level has lowered from 380000 cusecs to 232000 cusecs at Head Marala. Water flow is being recorded 245600 cusecs at Head Qadir Abad.
Water flow is heading towards Head Trimmu after having passed through Taunsa Barrage. Water flow is receding in river Sindh at Chashma barrage in Mianwali. Water inflow has been recorded 582381 cusecs while water outflow has been noticed 566928 cusecs therein. Irrigation department sources said Nari stream of Sibbi is facing flood like situation as 35000 cusecs water flow is passing through Nari headworks and 8000 cusecs at Tali stream.
Roof of a house caved in at Sahiwal due to torrential rains and one woman was killed and 4 persons were injured in this incident. Heavy downpour lashed Sahiwal city and its suburbs till late night.
As many as 10 persons are reported to have lost lives across the Punjab province so far due to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Water flow has neared close to extreme high level of 1550 feet in Tarbella dam as it is left 4 feet below the peak of the level.
Water level was recorded 1546 feet on Thursday and the dam is likely to be filled to its full capacity soon.
Water inflow has been recorded in the dam at 365800 cusecs and water outflow has been witnessed 336700 cusecs. Reservoir of useable water has touched the mark of 6352000 acres feet.
On the other side water level has increased by 2.6 feet as compared to the level recorded a day before. Water level is being recorded at 1221.85 feet which is 20 feet below the highest level.
