Ringleader of inter-provincial gang of dacoits nabbed

KARACHI: Defence police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested the ringleader of an inter-provincial dacoits gang in injured condition and recovered looted goods from his possession in an encounter in the city.
However, his accomplice fled in injured condition, the police said.SSP Clifton Division Nasir Aftab informed this during a briefing to media at his office. SHO Defence Farooq Satti was also present on the occasion.
The SSP said that SHO Satti heading a police team was on patrolling when he got information that a robbery was underway near Sunset Boulevard Road Defence library.
He said that the bandits were looting Dr Amanullah Khan of Medicine Research Centre who was in his car."In the meantime, the police party rushed to the scene, triggering an encounter with bandits." After a brief encounter, the police arrested ringleader of gang, Mubarak Ahmed alias Bengali in injured condition, however, his accomplice Riaz alias Muna Rawalpindiwala managed to flee in injured condition.The SSP said that the police recovered looted cash, a mobile phone, pistol, five cartridges and a bike used by accused during the robbery.
He said that arrested accused belonged to a seven-member dacoits gang which commits robberies in posh areas of Defence."The detained accused and his accomplices had also been arrested in the past and were released after undergoing punishment," the police official further informed.
He said that Riaz, the accomplice of the arrested accused, was released 15 days back from a jail.
He alleged that arrested accused along with his accomplices had also shot dead the son of SHC advocate Hameed Ahmed and injured three persons Irfan, Josha and Qabil Khan during a crime activity near a restaurant in Defence A Market on February 10, 2013.
