Rally held against Israeli attack on Gaza

JALALABAD: More than 500 Afghans staged a demonstration here in protest against Israelís offensive on the Palestinian inhabitants of the Gaza Strip.

The rally was initiated by members of the provincial council, community organizations and local elders in the province 120 km east of Afghan capital Kabul.

More than 130 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli air raids on the Gaza Strip since last Wednesday, with more than 1,000 others wounded. Meanwhile, Israel reported that five Israelis have been killed in Palestinian rocket attacks, according to media reports.

Similar protest was expected in Kabul e-arlier Wednesday but canceled following a suicide bomb explosion that left two security guards and two attackers dead and five civilians wounded.
