Raisani sends resignation to JUI-F leader
06 February, 2013
QUETTA: Suspended Balochistan chief minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has dispatched his resignation to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl provincial Ameer and Council of Islamic Ideological Chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, sources have confirmed.
According to sources close to the JUI-F Raisani had couriered his resignation letter to Maulana Sherani. However, Raisani himself did not confirm his resignation. Sources said that the coalition parties had evolved consensus for end of governor's rule and formation of a new government.
"They have also exhibited consensus in nomination of new leader of the House," they said, and added that the chief minister dispatched his resignation following this development. Parties opposing the governor's rule in Balochistan, including JUI-F and Balochistan National Party, are reportedly busy lobbying in Islamabad for bringing it to an end.
Maulana Sherani had also called on President Asif Ali Zardari and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and had presented a three-point formula for formation of a new provincial government.
End.
