ISLAMABAD: President PML-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday dubbed the "Dharna" of the PML-N in front of the Election Commission a "Dharni," saying that it was washed away with rain.

"No one in the past has been able to stage a sit-in (Dharana) like that of Dr Tahirul Qadri, which was historic, nor will anyone be able to hold such a 'dharna' in future," he said while talking to the newsmen here Tuesday.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said if the PML-N was sincere in making the Election Commission strong enough, it should support the proposal of PML-Q of giving the sweeping powers to the Election Commission of Pakistan like of Indian Election Commission.

He said those who were claiming that they posses the "key" for holding the elections of National Assembly and Provincial Assembly same day will sooner or latter agree to dissolve all the assemblies on the same day to pave the way for elections to National Assembly and provincial assemblies the same day. "If the elections of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies were held on different days it will have impact on the election results," he added.

In reply to question, Chaudhry Shujaat said the PML-N has not yet presented the names for caretaker set up to the government. "No meeting has yet been held on this issue with the government," he added.

End.
