RPPs case: 3 officials sacked for misusing SC's name: NAB
11 January, 2013
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday informed the Supreme Court (SC) that it has suspended three of its officials for misusing the court's name to remove two investigation officers who were probing corruption in Rental Power Projects case.
The court asked NAB to explain how many challans have been issued and arrests made in Rental Power Projects case.
A three-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, made the observation while hearing arguments with regard to non-implementation of its Rental Power Projects judgement.
NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Fauzi Zafar presented a report about suspension of NAB officers. The chief justice said, "We didn't ask for it."
He asked Kazim why NAB has been saying that the officials were suspended on the direction of the court. The chief justice asked NAB to take action against the officials on its own.
Fauzi Zafar informed the bench that the three officials are Principal Secretary to NAB Chairman Farooq Nasir Awan, NAB Rawalpindi Director General Subha Sadiq and Investigation Officer in RPPs case Shehzad Bhatti.
End.
