Quake jolts KP, Islamabad

ABBOTTABAD/PESHAWAR: A mild earthquake struck parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including Peshawar, Malakand, Swat, Lower Dir, Hazara districts and Chitral regions.

The intensity of the earthquake was recorded 5.6 on the Richter Scale, which lasted for one minute, on Monday. However, reports received from other areas, including Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, and Haripur state the quake observed at the same intensity. The jolts were also felt in the federal capital and its twin city Rawalpindi.

However, no loss of life or property was reported from any area. Sources told that panic gripped the areas as people were seen rushing out of their homes. The Meteorological Department said that the epicentre of the earthquake was Hindukush region.
