Punjab governor's sons join PPP

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Three sons of Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood joined the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Sunday. MPA Syed Murtaza Mehmood, MNA Syed Mustafa Mehmood and Syed Ali Mehmood have joined the PPP. This was announced by former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani during a public gathering. Gilani said that the three brothers had joined the ruling PPP after seeking permission from their father. He said that without creation of a separate province the people of south Punjab cannot excel and develop. Mustafa Mehmood and Murtaza Mehmood were elected from the platform of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional. Gilani added that the report pertaining to the formation of new provinces would be presented during the next session of the National Assembly. The former prime minister further said that free and fair elections were in the favour of the PPP. The PPP leaders said that the president could not be removed at anyone's wish. He added that elections would be held on time. He also asked how the problems of southern Punjab would be solved without the creation of a separate province. Gilani added that the parliamentary commission would submit separate proposals over a separate province. End.
