Punjab CM Shahbaz's chief security officer hurt in blast

06 July, 2012

LAHORE: The chief security officer of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was injured as an explosive device went off near his house on Wednesday night.

Major (r) Muaaz was leaving his house in Karim Block, Iqbal Town, on his official vehicle when a device dropped from beneath the vehicle.

His neighbour said that a minor servant picked up the device and gave it to Muaaz's sister, who called him (Muaaz) on the phone and said that some part of his car had fallen down.

On his return, Muaaz was given the device, which exploded when he dropped the bomb while he was examining it. He received injuries on his legs and back, while his car and another vehicle parked in the street near his house were damaged. The officer was rushed to a hospital, where PML-N MPA Dr Saeed Elahi said Muaaz was out of danger.

End.
