SUKKUR: Former interior minister Rehman Malik said on Friday that all accused involved in the assassination of former prime minister Benzair Bhutto had been arrested and now it is responsibility of courts to punish them.
Talking to reporters at Sukkur airport, the PPP leader said, "Assailants had been arrested and presented before courts in the government of PPP. However, to punish them is the responsibility of courts and not the government."
He said the accused, who had planned the conspiracy in South Wazirstan to kill Benzair, were arrested after verification. The former minister said that a person namely Chitan was killed in a drone attack and two others were killed at checkposts.
These three men had revealed some important information but they were killed by anti-state elements, he added. Rehman Malik said he still declares Taliban zaliman but if the government is negotiating with them then it is a good omen.
"Mullah Fazlullah is in Afghanistan and the Afghan government should take action against the killer of innocent people," he said.
