GHAZNI: Residents of Ghazni's Andar district took out a protest rally and blocked Kabul-Kandahar against the attitude of local police. "We took to the streets as the local police suppress us. We want the government officials to take serious step in this regard and get us rid of the highhandedness of the local police," a protester, Abdull, told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP). In sheer violation of Afghan culture and Islamic values, the local police enter the houses on the pretext of search and loot valuable, he alleged. Besides the local police, the foreign forces also suppress people on highways, said another protesters. "The foreign forces too suppress the people during search on highway and meet them out ill-treatment, humiliate the people, take their pictures and make fun of them. This act is against the law and Islam and should be stopped at immediately," he narrated. They threatened not to open the highway and continue their protest if their demands were not fulfilled. Clashes have been continuing in Andar district between Taliban and local residents called uprisers. However, Taliban and some officials termed the uprisers as local police and a conspiracy by foreigners. End.
