Protest on large scale against police bill in IHK

02 March, 2013

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, pro-freedom leaders and organisations have continued to denounced the proposed police bill, terming it as anti-people and anti-social asked the people to get organized against it.

A spokesman for the forum patronized by veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that the pro-India National Conference was bent upon converting the Valley into a hell because of its record of betrayal.

The spokesman said that whenever the National Conference came into power it promoted hooliganism. He said that by bringing Village Defence Committees (VDCs) at par with army companies, the authorities were creating Ikhwani-style groups against pro-liberation forces. "Such steps in a civilised society are tantamount to declaring war against common people."

The spokesman said that these VDCs were running parallel governments in Muslim dominated areas in Jammu and were committing atrocities on common people.

"The wrongdoings of the VDCs are being provided a legal cover by the authorities," he said.

The Chairman of Political Democratic Front, Firdous Ahmad Shah said that the bill would usher in a new era of human rights violations in the occupied territory. He threatened to unleash a widespread mass agitation against the passage of the bill.

In Islamabad, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement cautioned that Indian rulers were hell-bent upon pushing the region into chaos and destruction through introduction of a so-called police reforms bill on the pattern of draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani denounced restrictions on Syed Ali Gilani in New Delhi and demanded his release immediately.

End.
