Promotion of Pak-Turk trade ties top priority: Shahbaz

ISTANBUL: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the promotion of trade relations between Turkey and Pakistan is his priority. He was speaking at the signing ceremony of four memoranda of understanding (MoU) between the Turkish Finance Ministry, Exim Bank and the Punjab government at Municipality Convention Center in Istanbul on the last day of his visit to Turkey. These MoUs relate to intelligence, traffic system, Rapid Bus Transit, Punjab Skills Development Funds, Bayhez Holding and Punjab Vocational Training Council. The chief minister expressed the hope that his visit to Turkey would help improve civic amenities for the people of Punjab, reform the police system, and strengthen infrastructure. He said that guidance would be sought from Turkey for the uplift of transport sector, and joint measures would be taken for the provision of modern and affordable transport facility to the masses. He said that talks with Turkey would continue in future as well for promoting bilateral cooperation. Sharif termed the setting up of new vocational institutes with cooperation of Turkey a milestone, which would help impart various skills to the youth and enable them to achieve self-sufficiency, and play their role in national development. The chief minister also attended a signing ceremony of an agreement between Punjab Vocational Training Council and Turkish Training School in Istanbul, under which the Turk-Pak institution would provide vocational training certification of European standard, and its technical graduates would be able to avail job opportunities in the Middle East and Europe.
