Problems with the dam... By Bakhtawar

Meerani Dam, the biggest dam in Mehran, and the key area where all the small rivers of Turbat are, consists of a very fragile infrastructure. It was constructed in the era of General Pervez Musharraf in order to supply fresh water to Gwadar port. Despite spending a lot of funds, the project has remained incomplete. The government is also showing a lax attitude. Although it was planned to be made to fulfill the needs of the local people, it does not reach their present needs, and the indigenous people continue to suffer from a lack of clean water. What is more is that the road leading to it was completely damaged by the torrential rains of 2007 and yet it has not been repaired. I appeal to the government to complete the incomplete project of Meerani Dam as soon as possible. BAKHTAWAR BADAL BALOCH
