Private guards kill civilian in Badghis

SHEBERGHAN/HERAT: A cop died while 29 more became unconscious at a base in Qaisar district of Faryab province last night.
An area resident told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that a total of 30 policemen became unconscious at a base in Qaisar district, adding one of them lost his life.
The Faryab governor's spokesman Ahmad Javed Baidar confirmed the incident. He, however, did not disclose exact number of the affected policemen. He said the policemen became unconscious after eating meal. He said it seems someone had poisoned their food.
Meanwhile, gunmen shot dead a former commander of the Junbish-i-Milli, Amanullah, in Dhun Darra area of Pashtunkot district while he and his son were was on their way to the mosque last night.
His son sustained injuries in the attack, he said, adding the attackers fled from the scene.
The Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for killing Amanullah. He said their fighters also killed two more commanders, Abdul Rashid and Sangin, in the same district yesterday.
Meanwhile, the security guards of a private security firm shot dead a civilian in Badghis province last night, an official said Wednesday.
Abdul Qayum, a resident of Maqur district, was killed by guards of a private security firm in Maqur district last night, a police officer told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
He said the guards ordered the deceased not to come closer to the security firm's building but he did not follow their instructions.
The incident is currently under investigation, he added.
