ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Yasin Azad on Wednesday said that the president and governors of all provinces had immunity under Article 248 of the constitution.

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, he reiterated that the government should implement Supreme Court's judgements.

He praised Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for his decision to appear before the Supreme Court after getting a contempt of court notice in the NRO implementation case.

Yasin Azad said that under Article 190, every institution is bound to implement Supreme Court orders and the government should, therefore, write a letter to Swiss authorities to open graft cases against the president.

He said that neither the country nor the political parties had complete democracy, adding that the SCBA was against dictatorship. He said the tension among the institutions could be reduced if they work within their domain.
