Prayer leader, trader killed

HERAT: A prayer leader and a local trader were killed in separate incidents in Herat and Farah provinces, officials said Wednesday.

Unknown motorcyclists shot dead a fruit trader in Herat City today and fled the scene, the Herat police crime investigation in-charge Ali Ahmad Dashti told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

The police registered a case and started investigation, he added.

In Lash-wa-Jwain district of Farah province, unknown gunmen killed a member of the clerics’ council and prayer leader, Sheikh Hussain Tawakali, last night, the Farah deputy governor Muhammad Younis Rasuli told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

The attacker fled the scene, he said. No one has claimed responsibility for these incidents till filling of this report.
