Prayer leader killed in Kalat

QUETTA: A prayer leader was gunned down and two others were wounded in two separate incidents of violence in Kalat and Quetta districts of Balochistan.

In the first incident, unidentified armed assailants opened fire on a prayer leader, identified as Qari Ziaullah in Kalat Town, on the second day of Eid. Zia received multiple bullet wounds and breathed his last instantly.

Local administration moved the body to hospital and started investigation into the incident. However, the motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.

In the second incident, unidentified armed men intercepted two people in Killi Noor Muhammad near Brewery Road in Quetta on Monday and opened fire on them. As a result, two people, identified as Noor Ahmed and Muhammad Yousuf, sustained injuries who were shifted to hospital. The assailants fled from the scene. Police have registered a case.
