Poor schools survey by NTS... By Mujahid

13 January, 2014

Recently after having been told by one of my friends that the National Testing Service (NTS) has posted new openings on its website for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa schools, I opened the site with curiosity to find out the details. But I was shocked to see that only a single post was available in the entire upper Swat (Swat Kohistan). Last year I had surveyed the said area myself.

During the survey I had found more than 50 percent girls primary schools turned into ghost schools. The remaining 50 percent of the schools had only one teacher for six different classes. This means that the area is in want of a large number of teachers. I don't know who provided the data to NTS for the vacant post. If the education department of Swat has provided the data, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf's government should take notice of the issue. Education is the main problem area of Swat and it cannot be ignored. I request the PTI government to improve the education system of the province.
