Political parties and military united in the war against terrorism: Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday 1 January 2015 that the entire national political class and military is united in the war against terrorism and extremism, and will achieve success by taking effective measures at the right time.
The political leadership and military command once again came together on Thursday 1 January 2015 for the speedy implementation of National Action Plan for the eradication of terrorism. In this connection, Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on the National Action Plan which was attended by politicians, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and his top military aides. During the occasion, the PM vowed to defeat terrorism and not get “terrorised by it” and added that the government will take the war to its end. “We will not only fight terrorism but will also prevent it,” the PM said, adding that the country’s entire political spectrum is united in war against terrorism and extremism and will achieve success by taking effective measures at right time. “Our war is against hatred, fear and terrorism,” he said, adding that nobody could remain neutral in this war against terrorists.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the national plan of action on counter-terrorism is to identify and destroy hardcore terrorists, and protect the civilians. The PM said the government would support the armed forces and law enforcement agencies to keep the country and the children safe in the days and years to come. He said fight against terrorists would be fought holistically through diplomacy, intelligence, law enforcement and military. The PM said the government would make sure that there was no distinction between those who committed acts of terror and those who harboured them. “We will make sure the sacrifices of our law enforcement agencies and the blood spilled in Peshawar does not go waste,” he said, adding that the elimination of terrorists from Pakistan was his mission.
The premier said the whole nation as well as the political and military leadership were fighting the war of Pakistan’s security. “We are engaged in efforts to make Pakistan a safer place, so that masses can live with peace and without any fear,” he added. He said the people should be rest assured “as their leadership was conscious and watchful”. He said terrorists were being chased in every nook and corner of the country and they will not find any place to hide in Pakistan. The prime minister was briefed by DG ISI and interior secretary about the progress on the operation Zarb-e-Azb and National Action Plan.
