Policeman among seven killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Seven people, including an injured policeman, were killed in separate acts of violence in the city on Thursday. A motorist was shot dead at Ranchore Line within the precincts of Eidgah police station. According to a police official, two unidentified armed pillion riders resorted to targeted firing on a motorist, resultantly, the motorist, later identified as 32-year-old Qamar Hussain, son of Mairaj Hussain, received critical bullet wounds and breathed his last on the way to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). The deceased was unmarried and resided in Ranchore Line area. He added that Qamar used to work at a mobile shop near his house. Separately, the body of a man packed in a gunny bag was found near Radio Pakistan within the vicinity of Preedy police station.According to police sources, unidentified culprits first kidnapped him and after torturing, penetrated multiple bullets in his body and threw it in abandoned place and escaped. The official sources said, the police on information reached the scene and shifted the body to CHK for medico-legal formalities, where the deceased was identified as 24-year-old Rashid, son of Mir Afsar. The deceased lived in Usmanabad area. The sources added that the victim had got married two months ago. They said, according to deceased's family, he had no affiliation with any religious or political party. Similarly, another shot dead man was found from Minawali Colony near Lyari Naddi within the limits of Pak Colony police station. An official said that after getting the information of body, police rushed to the scene and took the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for a postmortem, where the victim was identified as Asif 22, son of Islam Uddin. The deceased lived in Dhobi Ghaat area and used to run a grocery shop in the same area where he resided. He said that according to his family, the deceased had no affiliation with any political or religious parties. The official said that on 28th October, the deceased along with his friend Amir went somewhere on a motorbike and both were missing since then. He said that Rashid's body was found but Amir was still missing. Besides, the body of a young man was found in Gulbai area within the limits of SITE police station. Police said that unidentified men kidnapped the deceased and killed him with gunfires and threw it at an abandon place. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till filing this report. The body was shifted to CHK for medico-legal formalities. The body of a man was found from MA Jinnah Road within the jurisdiction of Nabi Bux police station. Police said that the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. His body was brought to the CHK for a postmortem and later moved to mortuary for identification. Meanwhile, a policeman, who was injured during a police encounter with the criminals at Hub river road area on 25th October, succumbed to his injuries at CHK. The 45-year-old Iqbal, a policeman, was injured in a police encounter and received critical bullet wounds. He was treated at CHK where, after seven days, he breathed his last. The deceased left behind four siblings and a widow. Iqbal hailed from Hazara division and lived in Shanti Nagar area. Moreover, a man was killed while cleaning a weapon in Future Colony within the limits of Sharafi Goth police station. According to police, Rasheed, 45, son of Fareed, was sitting at his house with his children when his younger brother Ahsfaq was busy in cleaning his pistol. All of sudden, a fire opened and hit Rasheed, resultantly he died on the spot. His body was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a postmortem. The deceased used to work in a security company and was the father of three children. End.
