ISLAMABAD: Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at thousands of protesters led by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri as they marched toward the Prime Minister House in the federal capital.

Violence broke out after the protesters attempted to remove containers in front of the President House, using a crane.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan today told the 'Azadi March' participants to be prepared to 'step ahead', adding that he would soon make an important announcement.

Addressing the participants of the sit-in in Islamabad, Khan told the marchers to prepare to step ahead, adding that the male members of the sit-in will lead while the female members would follow. Earlier, PTI chief said that they had requested the prime minister to step down from the premiership for as long as the investigation continues.

Imran Khan questioned "isn't the democracy in jeopardy when the PM lies on the floor of the parliament?" Any nation can accept any sort of a prime minister but a liar, he said. The Sharif dynasty has vested their money abroad and urged the people of Pakistan to bring their money to the country, he added. Khan insisted and invited all the people to come and join him for the sit-in for the sake of their 'own future'.

Meanwhile, directing his followers to remove all tents, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has asked them to kick out rulers.

Addressing participants of the PAT sit-in, Qadri said that according to the constitution this government should be removed and the assemblies should be dissolved. He said that the rulers used to say that this impulsive state would end in a few days.

The PAT chief asked the police personnel that these were the final moments and urged them to join the 'Inqilab March' and not to worry about their uniform, they would get it again. He also asked the cops to act as the frontline soldiers of the revolution and to crush the heads of the rulers with their batons.

Dr Qadri said that when we reached here with our march, that was another scene, but today it was quite different and now a decisive stage was quite close. He also called some victims of injustice on the stage and informed the participants about their sufferings. The PAT chief said that the people kept alleging that here only my followers were sitting and inquired them.

"Don't you see these oppressed people. They were not my followers; they came here hoping for the justice," he added. "People speak ill about me, but nobody has the courage to negate what I have been saying for the past one and a half year," Qadri said. He urged the people to come out of their homes and join this 'Revolutionary March', and to snatch their rights from the tyrants.

The PAT chief inquired that where those who talk about the constitution, when an innocent girl was being raped, when the poor did not have food to eat. "The constitution of Pakistan guarantees human rights, if the people were being delivered their rights, they would not have been protesting here under the scorching sun, while at times facing heavy rains", he said.

End.
