Police asked not to arrest Shirazi supporters

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday restrained Thatta police from arresting supporters belonging to Shirazi family of the district till further orders.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai was hearing the petition filed by Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, who impleaded home secretary, provincial police chief, SSP Thatta and SHOs of various police stations as respondents. The bench issued notice to the respondents, and adjourned the matter till Aug 26.
The petitioner submitted that provincial government was victimising their family and supporters. He said after general elections, over 50 FIRs had been registered against them and cases were pending disposal before the trail courts. He requested the court to restrain the police from arresting them and their supporters, and ordered for quashment of FIRs.
