ISLAMABAD: Clash erupted between club-bearing policemen and workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the federal capital on Friday, as the protesters gathered against the alleged rigging during the general elections.

The PTI protest rally led by party's additional secretary general Saifullah Niazi and central spokesperson Shireen Mazari marched towards the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) headquarters located in the Red Zone. Situation was out of control when police used force against the charged mob.

Despite all the chaos, angry mob continued advancing towards the Election Commission building. The area turned into a battlefield between the police and the PTI workers. Imran Khan-led PTI has launched a protest campaign against the alleged irregularities in general elections on May 11 last year.
